We may soon have three named storms in the Atlantic basin at the same time, if Invest 94L strengthens as expected.
Hurricane Gabrielle continues to head toward Portugal and Spain while Tropical Storm Humberto strengthens closer to the United States and is expected to become a hurricane over the weekend.

Even closer to Florida and the U.S. is Invest 94L, which is forecast to become a tropical depression this week while near the Bahamas, according to the National Hurricane Center.
The next named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season will be Imelda.

Invest 94L may bring significant rainfall to the Leeward Islands, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands during the week.
Will Invest 94L impact Florida?
That’s unclear at this time.
“The forecast for Invest 94L is highly uncertain due to potential land interaction and its proximity to the stronger Humberto,” said Dr. Ryan Truchelut, chief meteorologist at WeatherTiger, who works with the USA TODAY Network.
“The chaotic interaction of two storms or the chance of 94L lingering could leave the outside possibility of some eventual impact to Florida or the Southeast on the table.
“As a forecaster, sometimes you just need to be honest that uncertainty is high, forecast confidence is low, and bad outcomes are unlikely but can’t be ruled out.”
“It could bring significant impacts in terms of wind, rain and surf,” AccuWeather said.
