The sudden stop caused a Newburyport, Massachusetts man, to brake abruptly in his 2024 Land Rover. Police said the Rover was then struck from behind by a 2013 Chevy Express van driven by a Nashua man. A third vehicle, a 2017 Mercedes Sprinter, operated by a Port Orange, Florida, man collided with the back of the van.

As the three vehicles crashed, police said two tractor-trailers — a 2024 Freightliner driven by a Kensington man and a 2022 Kenworth driven by a Lynn, Massachusetts, man — attempted evasive maneuvers and struck each other, disabling both trucks.

The Kensington man and his passenger were transported to a local hospital as a precaution. No one else was hurt, according to police.

The northbound toll lanes were closed for roughly two hours while crews cleared the scene. Hampton Fire Rescue, North Hampton Fire & Rescue, and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation assisted troopers on site.

State police are seeking information about the driver of the white car who reportedly initiated the chain of events. Anyone with details is asked to contact Trooper Sean Kennedy at (603) 223-4381 or Sean.K.Kennedy@dos.nh.gov.
