A 70-year-old Amish man was injured in a crash with a pickup truck in Gladwin County on the evening of Wednesday, Sept. 24, police said.
The victim was traveling westbound in a buggy on Wagarville Road about 200 feet east of North Hockaday Road in Gladwin Township when a 2007 Ram 2500 pickup truck, driven by a 64-year-old Bay City man, hit the buggy from behind, injuring the Amish man, the Gladwin County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.
The incident happened at the intersection, with deputies responding to the scene around 7:15 p.m.

An ambulance took the victim to MyMichigan Hospital-Midland for non-life-threatening injuries, the Gladwin County Sheriff’s Office said. Police reported no injuries to the pickup truck’s driver
The cause of the crash is likely related to sun glare based on the time of day and direction the truck and buggy were traveling, police said. The sheriff’s office said drugs or alcohol were not involved.
This week’s crash marks the latest in a string of incidents involving Amish buggies or travelers in Gladwin County and across Michigan, with five crashes reported in August, two fatal, the Detroit Free Press reported.
