Former FBI Director James Comey fairly taunted President Donald Trump in a newly released CNN interview that was taped months before the Trump-directed indictment against him.
Comey has dominated the media since news broke Wednesday that Comey and New York AG Letitia James (D) would likely face indictment after Trump publicly pressured Attorney General Pam Bondi to go after a list of enemies. Comey’s dropped on Thursday, with a defiant Comey pledging to fight it out in court.
Many observers believe that Trump’s targeting of Comey appears to be motivated by politics and retribution.
On Friday’s edition of CNN’s The Arena, anchor Kasie Hunt rolled out an exclusive interview from May in which Comey said Trump “can’t get over” him and is embittered because his administration was “never able to get me”:
