Interstate 81 northbound off-ramp at Route 16, Greencastle, PA to close for road work

The ramp off northbound Interstate 81 at Exit 5 will be closed for a couple of days beginning Sept. 28 for reconstruction.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said that the ramp to Route 16 at Greencastle would close at 7 p.m. Sept. 28, weather permitting, and should reopen by 6 a.m. Oct. 1,

Drivers who want to access Route 16 should continue north to Exit 10 at Marion, then return via Interstate 81 south to Exit 5.

The work is part of a larger $17.8 million project running from the Maryland line to milepost 6. The project consists of milling, concrete patching, asphalt resurfacing, guiderail updates, signs and pavement markings on both northbound and southbound I-81, including ramps, according to PennDOT.

New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co. Inc. is the contractor for the project, which is expected to be completed by July 16, 2027.
