Franklin County unveils bell sculpture for America250PA celebration

Must read

A new bell sculpture was unveiled at the Franklin County Visitors Bureau as part of the Bells Across PA initiative.

The project, launched by America250PA, aims to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026 by placing at least one in each of Pennsylvania’s 67 counties, according to a community announcement.

The bell, created by Chambersburg-based artist Andrea Finch, was sponsored by the Franklin County Visitors Bureau. The initiative brings together artists, community partners, and civic organization to create one-of-a-kind designs for fiberglass bell sculptures.

“Bells Across PA is our way of inspiring connection through creativity,” Cassandra Coleman, executive director of America250PA, said in the announcement. “As we prepare to mark 250 years of the American experiment, this initiative helps Pennsylvanians from every corner of the Commonwealth see themselves in that story.”

The unveiling event was attended by America250PA Chief of Staff Matt Darragh, FCVB Tourism Director Janet Pollard, state Sen. Doug Mastriano, state Rep. Rob Kauffman, the Franklin County Board of Commissioners and Finch.

The Bells Across PA initiative is ongoing, with additional bell installations planned in communities across the Commonwealth through 2025 and potentially into 2026. Each bell serves as a visual tribute to Pennsylvania’s role in American history and reflects the shared values, pride and creativity of its people.
