One of the country’s best apple orchards is in Central Massachusetts, according to USA TODAY’s 10BEST Readers’ Choice Awards.
The annual rankings highlight the best in travel, food and lifestyle, and winners are chosen by a public voting poll after being nominated by industry experts. In the 2025 fall awards, ranking attractions like fall festivals, corn mazes and foliage viewing spots across the country, Red Apple Farm in Phillipston ranked No. 2 in the best apple orchards category – a jump up the list from its ninth place spot in last year’s ranking.
Here’s what to know about the award-winning apple orchard, as well as how to visit this fall.
About Red Apple Farm
Red Apple Farm in Phillipston.
Located along Route 2 with beautiful views of Wachusett Mountain, Red Apple Farm grows over 50 unique varieties of apples to pick from, as well as pumpkins, sunflowers, zinnias, potatoes, gourds and squash — and those are only the fall crops.
If you can’t find everything you want in the orchard, the barn-style country store is full of freshly-picked seasonal produce, as well as homemade treats such as fresh pies, authentic apple cider, cider slushies, apple dumplings, apple cider donuts, slow-cooked fudge, caramel apples and a variety of jarred goods.
When all that food shopping gets you hungry, you can get a treat from the ice cream window or a meal from the Brew Barn, a taproom and restaurant featuring breakfast sandwiches in the morning and pub favorites with live music at night. Red Apple Farm pairs with Moon Hill Brewing Co. to bring craft brews to the barn, but adults can also enjoy a drink in the scenic garden at the on-site cidery.
Complete your visit to Red Apple Farm with a wagon ride, a trip to the petting zoo and a walk along one of the farm’s beautiful trails.
