Ledyard police said they entered the water and attempted to access the vehicle, but the vehicle became fully submerged.

Firefighters arrived and used life-saving equipment to break the driver’s side window and extract the man from the submerged vehicle.

The man was unresponsive, according to police. Upon getting him to shore, the victim was revived.

He was transported to a local hospital where he was listed in stable condition. There were no reported injuries to emergency personnel.
