Trump Goes on Truth Spree, Warns Border Patrol ‘Will Take No Nonsense’ In Chicago

Must read

President Donald Trump went on a social media binge on Sunday evening, posting 12 times in the span of 15 minutes on his platform, Truth Social, as news and video clips of U.S. troops patrolling Chicago began circulating.

The Windy City was the focus of many of the president’s posts — or more accurately, re-posts, as he shared several X links of troops roaming The Windy City. He re-shared one clip, initially posted by Eric Daugherty on X, that showed federal troops walking around downtown Chicago.

Trump also shared a clip from The Blaze that showed protestors yelling at immigration agents; one woman, holding a Mexican flag in the video, screamed at the agents “We don’t want you here. Leave!”

The president then posted the clip a second time with the caption “Border Patrol will take no nonsense!”

His Truth flurry came after Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson (D) blasted the president for his “brazen provocation.” Johnson, in an X post, said he was aware of troops and immigration agents in his city.

“While Chicagoans and visitors are enjoying another gorgeous Sunday, they are being intimidated and threatened by masked federal agents flaunting automatic weapons for no apparent reason,” Johnson posted.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported dozens of immigration agents took individuals into custody while patrolling downtown Chicago on Sunday.

Gregory Bovino, a border patrol chief, told local radio station WBEZ that agents were arresting people based on “many different factors,” including “how they look.” He also said agents have the “intelligence” and “experience” to know when something “indicates there’s illegal aliens in a particular place or location.”

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker (D), who has criticized Trump several times in recent weeks for his planned deployment of the National Guard to Chicago, joined Johnson in bashing the president.

The governor posted, “The Trump Administration’s DHS officers appear to be carrying large weapons around downtown Chicago in camouflage and masks. This is not making anybody safer — it’s a show of intimidation, instilling fear in our communities and hurting our businesses.”

Beyond focusing on Chicago, the president’s social media spree included sharing a video where he “demolished” ex-CNN reporter Jim Acosta on the topic of illegal immigration. He also posted a video where an independent reporter asked Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) what he is going to do when the “Deep State can’t protect you anymore,” as well as a 10 minute speech from Charlie Kirk.
