Green orders flags to be half-staff after Michigan church shooting

Gov. Josh Green ordered today the U.S. and Hawaii flags to be flown at half-staff at all state offices and agencies, as well as the Hawaii National Guard, in solemn condolences to the in Grand Blanc, Mich.

A man drove his vehicle through the front doors of the church today and shot at least 12 people, killing four of them, Michigan police said.

Flags are to be flown at half-staff from Monday at sunrise, through sunset Wednesday.

“Our hearts ache as we see the senseless violence that occurred again on the mainland, this time at a Michigan Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, ” Green said in a statement. “This epidemic of violence must be addressed. We need more mental healthcare for all of our people and we need to recognize that the divisive rhetoric, from all parties, is threatening to burn our country to the ground.”
