Man charged with murder after deadly stabbing on Fair Place

A man has been accused of stabbing another man during an argument last week has been arrested.

The fatal encounter occurred on Fair Place in northeast Rochester around 10:50 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 26, said Capt. Frank Umbrino of the Rochester Police Department.

Oscar Loyola-Ledesma, 34, was charged with second-degree murder in the death of Antonio DeJesus Rodriguez-Cervantes, 41, following an argument, Umbrino said. The Department of Homeland Security also filed an immigration detainer against Loyola-Ledesma, which means he must remain in custody for at least 48 hours.

The two men, both currently Rochester residents, knew one another and became involved in a verbal argument that turned physical, Umbrino said. Loyola-Ledesma is acused of stabbing Rodriguez-Cervantes at least once during the altercation. He was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Loyola-Ledesma was apprehended Sunday, Sept. 28 as officers executed a search warrant at a Child Street residence, where he was hiding in a bathroom, Umbrino said. The stabbing death marked Rochester’s 27th homicide of 2025, according to RPD’s Open Data Portal.

Fair Place is a small residential road that connects North Goodman Street and Pennsylvania Avenue and is located several blocks north of East Main Street.

Loyal-Ledesma is scheduled to be arraigned in City Court on Tuesday, Sept. 30.
