Salt & Straw has partnered with Taco Bell to launch a chocolate ice cream taco, and it sounds incredible

We all remember growing up with Choco Tacos. They were everywhere, from convenience stores to food trucks, and they were as much a nostalgic part of growing up as friendship bracelets and cartoons. This iconic chocolate taco creation was so epic, and so special, that it’s not surprising it keeps finding a way of making a return appearance, and it’s always a very welcome sighting.

Once upon a time, Klondike called upon nostalgia and rebooted the Choco Taco, but it’s since been discontinued. But now it’s back in a big way as and have teamed up to launch the Tacolate, and it’ll be here this week!

The Tacolate, which will be available beginning October 3 at participating Salt and Straw locations and for nationwide shipping, was obviously inspired by the ice cream tacos we enjoyed as kids, but seriously elevated.

This dessert will feature a taco shell made out of hand-pressed waffle cones that is filled with cinnamon ancho chili ice cream that (because that’s not indulgent enough) is dipped in single origin chocolate, and then, finally, studded with toasted brown rice. To make it even more taco-inspired, the Tacolate will come with two sauce packets: Mango Jalapeno Sauce and Wildberry Cinnamon Sauce.

This collab is a long time coming, as way back in 2016, Salt & Straw launched an early version of an ice cream taco. In 2022, Salt & Straw these Chocolate Tacolates came back in a limited run.But it wasn’t until 2204, that the Taco Bell collaboration was announced, and now the results are finally here.

“It has been a dream to collaborate with Taco Bell to bring this product to life,” said Tyler Malek, co-founder of Salt & Straw, in a press release. “Nearly a decade in the making, we’ve developed a reimagined version of the nostalgic treat and we could not be more excited to bring our version to ice cream and tacos lovers.”

The Tacolate will be available in participating across Oregon, Washington, California, New York, Florida, Nevada, Arizona and New England as well as via nationwide shipping in six-packs on
