After more than 20 years in business, local boutique Dot Fox has closed.
The longtime Highlands neighborhood shop at 1567 Bardstown Road had its final day of operations Sept. 28.
“After 21 years, I’ve decided to wrap up the shop,” Owner Sally Bird wrote in a Sept. 17 social media post. “I am making space for myself to grow and create and do things that will fulfill my spirit in new ways. I have so much gratitude for what I’ve had here!”

Founded in 2004, the boutique sold a variety of merchandise including clothing, jewelry, accessories, gifts and more, and also housed Louisville Joe Coffee Company coffee bar.
In a 2007 interview with The Courier Journal, Bird said she founded the shop alongside Sue Schofield with “a little bit of cash, a credit card and a lot of elbow grease.”

“Our intent is to connect with people,” Bird said at the time. “Yes, we try really hard to have interesting merchandise. But what’s important is the connection with the human being that is buying the merchandise.”
