Even though it may not feel like it, fall has arrived in Wisconsin.
Though September has seen some cool days, it’s been a relatively warm month for the Badger State with Milwaukee seeing a high of 85 degrees on Sept. 27.
The warm weather is expected to continue in Milwaukee this week. Temperatures are expected to reach the mid-70s or higher in the first few days of October, with the National Weather Service forecasting a high of 80 degrees for Oct. 4.

So, when will Wisconsin’s fall weather finally be here to stay?

When does fall 2025 officially start?
Meteorological fall began on Sept. 1 while astronomical fall began on Sept. 22, with the autumnal equinox.

What is the NOAA predicting for Wisconsin’s fall 2025 weather forecast?
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration issued an updated forecast on Sept. 18 for October, November and December.
Most of the Badger State, including Milwaukee, Madison and Green Bay, is predicted to have a 33-40% chance of seeing above normal temperatures while the northern portion of the state has an equal likelihood of above, below or near average temperatures.
In terms of precipitation, the NOAA predicts nearly the entire state an equal likelihood of above, below or near average amount of precipitation through the fall months.
What is the Old Farmer’s Almanac predicting for Wisconsin’s fall 2025 weather forecast?
The Almanac predicted cooler-than-normal weather for most of Wisconsin in its July 11 forecast. In particular, it forecast September and October will have average temperatures of 57 degrees and 45 degrees, respectively.
“Chilly rain and snow” is expected in October, though the forecaster said there will be a few warmer days towards the middle and end of the month.
It’s worth noting the Old Farmer’s Almanac claims its forecasts are accurate about 80% of the time, according to its website. Though, forecasters noted last winter’s forecasts were 64% accurate, which they said is “a reflection of how abnormal recent weather patterns have been.”

What is the Farmers’ Almanac predicting for Wisconsin’s fall 2025 weather forecast?
The Farmers’ Almanac predicts that the Great Lakes region will see a “fair, chilly start” to the season with “familiar fall weather” to begin in October, according to its extended fall 2025 forecast.
Colder weather will likely begin by late October into November, with the first snow expected in the Great Lakes region by mid to late October, the Almanac predicts.
