Police shot and killed a man holding a gun at a Phoenix apartment complex when he didn’t put it down as officers commanded on Sept. 28, officials said.
Officers went to the complex near 33rd Avenue and Bell Road around 9:45 a.m. after a man held a gun to himself and, at some point, fired a gun inside an apartment, according to a Phoenix police news release.
Police surrounded the man’s apartment and evacuated others nearby. Officials said negotiators talked with the man for several hours. He left his apartment about 3:47 p.m. with a gun in his hand, the release stated.
