There’s several things we can all agree on no matter what your political affiliation. 1. We need to respect our veterans because if it wasn’t for them we probably wouldn’t be speaking English and 2. In-N-Out makes a darn good burger.
If you live or will be visiting one of the 424 locations across eight U.S. states (California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Colorado, and Idaho) this Veterans Day, November 11, then listen up. According to Fox LA, the beloved burger chain is giving free burgers, fries, and a drink to all Veterans, Active-Duty Military, Reserves and National Guard as a way of saying thank you.
The promotion is available at all In-N-Out locations open from 10:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. Service members just need to show proof of military service, such as an ID card, to receive the complimentary meal. All current and former military personnel will also receive a special edition Veterans Day decal.
Fans are already excited on Facebook as one commenter said, “I’ll know where I’ll be for lunch.” Another added, “This burger outfit has always been a first class operation.”
Veterans Day began in 1919 when President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed November 11 as Armistice Day, a year after World War I ended. The day became a federal holiday in 1938 and was renamed Veterans Day in 1954 to honor all U.S. service members. After a few date changes in the 1970s, it returned to November 11 in 1978.
If you’re not in the military or a veteran but want to take advantage of this offer by bringing along a military friend or family member, you can still make it a memorable meal. Try something from In-N-Out’s not-so-secret menu, like a grilled cheese, which is served like a hamburger without the meat, or go all out with an Animal Style burger or multiple patties and cheese. My personal favorite In-N-Out is the location next to LAX. It was even a favorite of Anthony Bourdain. You can grab a burger and watch planes land right above you. Be warned, though, it’s always crowded and will be especially busy on Veterans Day.
