A man has died after being hit by a car on Beltway 8 in east Harris County on Friday evening, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said it all started when the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office in Louisiana called HCSO, stating that they tracked down a stolen vehicle tied to a murder case out of Louisiana, to a Walmart near Wallisville Road in the area.
When they found the vehicle, deputies reported that they also found two men; however, investigators stated that the car had started driving away.
The two men in the car then eventually jumped out of the vehicle, HCSO deputies said.
Investigators said one of the men climbed onto the Beltway but was hit by oncoming traffic, and was pronounced dead.
The second man was found hiding in a residential backyard nearly two hours later, officials said.
Law enforcement agencies from Houston to Louisiana are now investigating the connection between the scene and how the car relates to the initial investigation.
“There was a murder over there, a possible stolen car that we have over at the Walmart. We’ve recovered the stolen car. We’re trying to locate other evidence right now,” HCSO Captain James Lovett said.
