Apr. 23—Sister Joann Stuever, ASC Sister Joann Stuever, ASC, age 92, died April 9, 2025, at the Adorers of the Blood Christ Center in Wichita, KS. Born March 26, 1933, in Woodward, OK, to Joe and Gladys Schneider. Graduated from Merici (Ursuline Academy) HS and Southern Methodist University in Dallas; married Joseph H. Stuever in 1954 (div. 1983). She taught science for 23 years at Hefner Jr. High/Middle School in OKC, was an adjunct instructor at OKC Community College, and was active for many years at St. Charles Borromeo parish and the Sierra Club. In 1991, she joined the Adorers of the Blood of Christ and ministered to people living with HIV/AIDS. Sister Joann made her first professed vows in 1996. She helped run a spiritual retreat center in Albuquerque in the 2000s before semi-retiring to the Adorers’ Wichita center in 2009. Sister Joann was an outdoors enthusiast who loved to share her knowledge of geology, chemistry, weather and astronomy; she treasured her adventures with family and friends and found lasting joy in religious life. In addition to her community of sisters, survivors include siblings Linda Resnick (Marvin) of Oklahoma City; Louis Schneider (John Johnson) of Dallas; and Mary G. Brown of Wilmington, NC; children Pat Graff (Mark Rumsey) of Albuquerque; Ann South of Kissimmee, FL; Mary Stuever of Cimarron, NM; and Hank Stuever (Michael Wichita) of Washington, DC; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter Cairn Michele Shaw; son-in-law Glenn South; brother-in-law Tom Brown. A memorial fund has been established for the retirement of Sisters, ASC, 1165 Southwest Blvd., Wichita, KS 67213 Welcoming will be Monday, April 28, 2025 at 2 p.m. and a wake will be held at 7 p.m.; Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, April 29, at 10:30 a.m. All services will be held at the Chapel of the Woman of the New Covenant, Adorers of the Blood of Christ, Wichita Center, 1165 Southwest Blvd. Interment at the Community Cemetery of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, Wichita.
