21-year-old man killed in crash on Norris Freeway Easter Sunday

A 21-year-old man was killed in a crash early Easter Sunday morning on Norris Freeway in Rocky Top.

Isaac Matchett died in the crash at 1:34 a.m. April 20, according to a preliminary report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol. The report stated that he was driving a 2017 Ford Mustang east on Norris Freeway, also known as U.S. Highway 441, and was entering a curve when he crossed the double yellow-line on the highway, struck a guardrail and went over an embankment, hitting a tree.

The report stated the crash was in the 603 block of Norris Freeway. That is near Cumberland View Estates subdivision. The crash happened on the opposite side of the freeway from the subdivision.

The city of residence is no longer provided on THP preliminary reports.

Posts on social media Facebook show two May 3 events have been scheduled in his memory: a 5 p.m. ride of Ford Mustangs from Norris Dam past where the crash occurred on Norris Freeway; and a 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. fishing tournament at Clark Center Park on Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge.
