SPRINGFIELD – The Board of Police Commissioners has one new member and a second was reappointed for another three-year term.
Mayor Domenic J. Sarno announced Tuesday he has named Paul A. Phaneuf, owner of the St. Pierre-Funeral Chapels, to the board, replacing Gary Berte whose term expired this month. He also reappointed Robert C. Jackson to a new three-year term.
Along with a long-term resident and business owner, Phaneuf is well-respected in the city and has served on the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Embalming and Funeral Directing, Sarno said.
He thanked the other residents who applied for the seat for their interest in serving on the board. He also commended Berte for his time, commitment and service to the city.
