A motorcyclist was killed during an early-morning crash on Route 6 in Bristol on Friday.

Emergency crews responded to the area of the McDonald’s at 646 Farmington Ave. around 12:10 a.m. on the report of a collision involving a motorcycle and a vehicle and found a young man unresponsive in the road, according to Lt. Patrick Krajewski of the Bristol Police Department.

Police tended to the victim until medics arrived and took over, Krajewski said.

The man was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to Krajewski. His identity is being withheld until police make next of kin notifications.

According to Krajewski, the driver of the vehicle, a small SUV, stayed at the scene and was cooperative with police.

The police department’s Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and took over the investigation. The initial investigation found that the motorcyclist was heading east on Farmington Avenue when the driver of the SUV exited the McDonald’s parking lot onto Farmington Avenue where a collision occurred, Krajewski said.

Farmington Avenue was closed until about 5 a.m. while investigators were at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or who has information has been asked to contact Officer McKirryher at 860-584-3033.
