North Jersey man arrested in Florida for terroristic threats against Gov. Murphy

A New Jersey man wanted by the State Police for terroristic threats against Gov. Phil Murphy was arrested Sunday in Florida, according to law enforcement officials.

U.S. Marshals and Walton County Sheriff’s Office deputies stopped Russ Semeran, 53, on a motorcycle on Phillips Drive in Freeport, Florida, department officials said in a May 19 social media post.

Semeran, a commodities trader and Mahwah EMS volunteer who was wanted by the State Police Counter Terrorism Bureau for allegedly threatening to kill Murphy, was taken to Walton County Jail and is awaiting extradition, police said.

Officials impounded his motorcycle, an SUV and an RV and brought them to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office. The arrest was made by the U.S. Marshals Task Force, officials said.
