Kentucky and Indiana drivers may experience traffic delays as renovations begin on the John F. Kennedy Memorial Bridge.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced June 3 that the left lane and left shoulder of southbound Interstate 65 will be closed as expansion joints are installed. KYTC officials wrote in a news release that the June 3 closures are part of preliminary work on the bridge and that drivers should expect more lane closures when full-scale renovations begin.
Full construction will begin on the bridge is scheduled to begin in mid-July and is expected to be complete in April 2026.

The Kennedy Bridge’s expansion joints need replacements, officials said. Hall Contracting is completing the replacements under a $6.9 million contract.

Engineering firm Hazelet & Erdal designed the bridge while Allied Structural Steel Company completed the superstructure and Roy Ryan Sons Company, Inc. constructed the substructure.
