A 49-year-old woman is fighting for her life after being shot in the head in Over-the-Rhine, according to Cincinnati police.
Officers responded to the 1400 block of Walnut Street at 12:45 a.m., Thursday, June 4, said Captain Stephen Bower, the night chief.
An officer nearby heard several shots before the call came out. ShotSpotter also detected multiple gunshots fired in the area, he said.
Police found the victim shot in the left side of her head. She was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, according to Captain Bower.He described the suspect as a male wearing a ski mask and a black hoodie.
The suspect fired his gun from a Shell gas station parking lot before fleeing “in an unknown way,” Captain Bower said.Anyone with information about this offense is asked to call police at 513-352-3542.
This is the second day in a row that someone has been attacked and critically hurt in Over-the-Rhine.Early Wednesday June 4, a Cincinnati business owner and Army captain was stabbed in his neck in the 100 block of East McMicken Avenue.
Patrick Heringer, 46, died from his injuries a short time later at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, according to police and the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office.
