A Largo man has been arrested in connection with the deaths of his parents, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office reported on Saturday.
Deputies found Elizabeth Lee Kirchner, 53, and Eric Kirchner, 64, dead in their home at 29 Saunders Ave. in the Largo area on Friday afternoon. Deputies went to the home for a welfare check after one of them did not show up for work. Both were found in the living room of the home with apparent gunshot wounds.
The couple’s son, Nicholas Steven Kirchner, 37, was later found in Sumter County, South Carolina, where he was involved in a “separate incident” in which he stated: “I’ve already killed two people – I’ll kill some more,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
Nicholas Kirchner was later taken into custody in Taliaferro County, Georgia, where he admitted that he killed his parents and described it as a “righteous kill,” the sheriff’s office said.
He was booked on two counts of first-degree murder.
No other details were immediately available.
