33-year-old man critically injured in shooting outside Brockton shopping plaza

Brockton Police are investigating a shooting that left a 33-year-old man critically injured Monday, June 2, police spokesperson Darren Duarte said. The incident occurred shortly before 5:14 p.m. at 21 Torrey St., outside the Wingstop in the Points West Plaza shopping mall. The victim, described by police as being critically injured, was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Brockton food truck shut down amid harassment allegations

Rudy Alves, who is running for mayor of Taunton, is no longer allowed to operate a food truck in Brockton. Alves was previously ordered to shut down a food truck in Taunton in April because he was “operating in a location where bathroom usage is unavailable,” according to the cease and desist order. He then moved the food truck to Brockton. But on May 30, a Brockton Superior Court judge ruled that Alves was “prohibited” from operating a food truck in Brockton until he obtains the required permits, which Alves was not previously able to obtain.

A Brockton woman attempting to smuggle 54 pounds of marijuana on a London-bound flight was arrested at Pittsburgh International Airport Saturday, May 24, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said in a written statement. The 30-year-old Brockton woman was caught with 49 vacuum-sealed packages of marijuana in her luggage, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said.
