Must read

An ex-convict was arrested on suspicion of biting a sheriff’s deputy during a confrontation in Hesperia this week, authorities said.

The incident unfolded about 6 p.m. Wednesday in a residential neighborhood in the are of Alder Street and Peach Avenue, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials said.

Deputies had responded to a report of an “unwanted subject” and detained 34-year-old Alfredo Arcila of Hesperia in the back of a patrol car as they investigated, according to a sheriff’s department statement.

“Arcila began to hit his head on the window of the patrol vehicle and was subsequently removed to prevent him from harming himself,” the statement said. “As Arcila was removed from the vehicle, Arcila bit the deputy on the thigh.”

The suspect was jailed on suspicion of battery on a police officer, resisting or obstructing police and violating the terms of felony probation stemming from a prior conviction, county booking records show.
