Man who ran from woods hit, killed by vehicles on Florida’s Turnpike, FHP says

A South Florida man who ran from the tree line onto the southbound lanes of Florida’s Turnpike in Orange County on Saturday night was killed after being struck by two vehicles, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The unidentified 30-year-old Hollywood man was pronounced dead on the scene after the 9:08 p.m. incident at mile marker 251 near the interchange with State Road 417, the report stated.

He was first hit by a 2021 Toyota Highlander driven in the inside lane by a 36-year-old Kissimmee man driving with three passengers including 7- and 1-year-old children. The pedestrian was then hit by a 2016 Chevy Silverado driven by a 30-year-old Key Largo man who was driving with two passengers including a 1-year-old child. Both vehicles were traveling in the southbound inside lane.

None of the occupants of the two vehicles were injured and they remained on the scene during the crash investigation.

The crash remains under investigation.
