Jun. 15—Decatur police have arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting.
Officers responded at about 3:22 a.m. Saturday to a reported shooting in the 1600 block of West Moulton Street.
Officers discovered the body of a deceased woman they identified as Akera Harris, 27, of Decatur, Decatur police said. The Decatur Police Department said Harris had suffered an apparent gunshot wound.
Police investigators developed Ronald Bland, 32, as a suspect, the department said, and a warrant on a charge of murder was issued for his arrest.
Bland was later located by the Huntsville Police Department and transported to the Decatur Police Department. He was booked into the Morgan County Jail and was being held without bail pending an Aniah’s Law hearing.
