Home prices in the Palmetto State are still on the rise.
In May, home prices were up 1.6% compared to the previous year, selling for a median price of $392,200, according to Redfin data. The number of homes sold was also up 1%.
Between February and April 2025, 28% of homebuyers nationwide searched to move to a different metro area. Redfin determined the top five states homebuyers were looking to relocate to were Florida, Arizona, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
California, New York, Illinois, Washington, and Maryland were the top 5 states homebuyers searched to move from.

Are there enough homes in SC to meet buyer demand?
There were 37,838 homes for sale in S.C. in May 2025, up 13.7% year over year. The number of newly listed homes was 9,334, which also saw a 0.6% increase year over year. The average months of supply is four months, no change year over year.
How competitive is the SC housing market?
The percentage of S.C. homes sold above list price in May 2025 was 14.3%, down 2 points year over year. Only 29.6% of homes had price drops, up from 26% of homes in May last year. The sale-to-list price was 98.1%, down 0.055 points year over year.
