Probation ordered for man facing multiple vehicular charges

Must read

EAU CLAIRE — The man who caused a crash after trying to outrun police will spend three years on probation.

Court records show Cameron Bosire, 18, Chippewa Falls, faced four separate cases following multiple events in 2024. He reached a plea agreement with prosecutors, pleading no contest to negligent operation of a vehicle, attempting to flee or elude, felony bail jumping and misdemeanor battery. A no contest plea does not admit the charge, but concedes the evidence supports conviction.

The court ordered two different probationary periods. But, since they run concurrently and the other is for just two years, they amount to an effective sentence of three years. He must maintain “absolute sobriety” during probation. He is also prohibited from possessing alcohol or entering bars, taverns or liquor stores.

If the court revokes Bosire’s probation he will receive jail credit, though the amount depends on which charge sees it revoked. The longest period available is four days. If he completes probation successfully, though, his cases may be expunged.

The most serious charge filed was second degree recklessly endangering safety, which was a Class G felony. According to the criminal complaint a deputy spotted Bosire driving 74 mph in a 45 mph zone on Hastings Way. When he reached a section with a 50 mph speed limit, he accelerated to 84 mph.

Bosire’s attempt to evade the deputy ended when he hit a pickup at Hastings Way and North Crossing, injuring two people in the pickup.

That incident followed one in which Bosire narrowly missed two pedestrians after being told to leave an area in which a party was taking place.
