Must read

Virginia State Police said two victims, both from the area, were killed last week in unrelated vehicle crashes on Eastside Highway.

One of the crashes was in Rockingham County and the other in Augusta County.

On June 11 at 6:45 a.m., police said a crash on South Eastside Highway in Rockingham County killed 26-year-old Adonis W. Boykin of Waynesboro.

Police said Boykin, who was wearing a seat belt, was behind the wheel of a 2000 Subaru Forester and headed northbound when, near the intersection of Treeland Lane, the vehicle went off the right side of the road and down an embankment before striking a tree.

Boykin died at the scene. Police said fatigue is being looked at as a possible factor in the crash.

The following day on June 12, shortly before 4 p.m., police said a 2011 Ford Escape SUV was headed southbound along Eastside Highway near Stull Run Lane when it went off the left side of the road. The SUV hit a ditch and then an embankment.

The driver, Jaimee B. Good, 33, of Crimora, suffered serious injuries. She was taken to an area hospital, where police said she died. Good was not wearing a seat belt.

The crash remains under investigation.
