Must read

A nonprofit group formed in the wake of the Uvalde, Texas, school massacre is offering a monetary reward for any information leading to the arrest of suspects in last weekend’s mass shooting in Columbus that killed one man and injured seven other people.

The Uvalde Foundation for Kids, a national student advocacy group founded to prevent violence in the wake of the May 2022 mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to arrests in connection with the early morning mass shooting June 14 in Columbus.

Jusiah Mason, 18, sustained fatal wounds, six others were wounded, and an eighth person sustained a non-gunshot injury in the shooting that occurred around 3:15 a.m. near the intersection of South Ludlow and West Town streets near the Scioto River, Columbus police said.

Mason died at a local hospital on June 15, the day after the shooting. Police said that just before the shooting, they received reports that between 50 and 80 people were gathered in the area.

Columbus police homicide detectives are also seeking information in connection with the shooting and are asking for the public’s help, particularly as it relates to cell phone footage of the events leading up to the shooting. Sgt. Joe Albert said at a press conference on June 16 that investigators are specifically looking for videos in the area south of West State Street, west of South High Street, north of West Rich Street, and east of Civic Center Drive.

Police asked anyone with video, photos or other digital evidence to upload it online for investigators at columbuspdoh.evidence.com.
