June 20, the official start of summer, is days away.
And this year, a heat wave is accompanying the start of the new season, with temperatures expected to reach the mid-90s this weekend.
Here’s a look at Summit County’s weather forecast for the rest of the week, and different ways Summit County residents can beat the heat as we head into the final days of June.
Summit County weather forecast
A heat wave is headed toward northern Ohio.
Here are the latest weather predictions, according to the National Weather Service:
Wednesday: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 11 a.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 85. Southwest wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Wednesday night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. Southwest wind 10 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Juneteenth: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 11 a.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 77. West wind 9 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Thursday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 61.
Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 83.
Friday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 67.
Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 88.
Saturday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 72.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 93.
Sunday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 74.
Monday: Sunny, with a high near 94.

Looking for a way to stay cool during the upcoming heat wave?
Akron’s public pool and splash pads are now open for the season. Perkins Woods Pool (899 Diagonal Road) is open Monday through Saturday from 1 to 7 p.m.
The splash pads at Joy Park (825 Fuller St.), Firestone Park (1480 Girard St.), Patterson Park (800 Patterson Ave.) and Elizabeth Park (68 East Lods St.) are open daily from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.
There is no estimated opening date for the Reservoir Park pool, Marsh said.
Residents wanting to swim at Perkins Woods pool must register for open swimming at akron.recdesk.com.
Cuyahoga Falls
The Water Works Family Aquatic Center (2025 Munroe Falls Ave) is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. The pool opens at 10:30 a.m. daily for season pass holders.
Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays are reserved for season pass holders and up to two guests. Wednesdays through Saturdays are open for the public.
Daily tickets are available for purchase, with pricing depending on Cuyahoga Falls residency status.
The splash pads are located in downtown Cuyahoga Falls (adjacent to the Downtown Amphitheater), Indian Mountain Park and at Quirk Cultural Center. They open daily at 10 a.m. The downtown splash pad closes at 10 p.m. every day while the other two close at dusk.
The wading pools, which are located at Lions Park, Oak Park and Linden Park, are open daily from noon to 6 p.m.
Green
The Central Park Splash Pad (1795 Steese Road) is open daily from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Admission to the splash pad is free.
Tallmadge
The Maca Aquatic Center (183 Maca Drive) is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. and Friday to Sunday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m.
Ticket prices vary, but children ages 2 and younger are free.
Twinsburg
The Twinsburg Water Park is open Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday from 10:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m.
Visitors must have a summer only membership, or be a guest of someone with a season pass to use the facility. Membership prices vary depending on Twinsburg residency status.
