Investigators arrested an Adelanto middle school security guard Thursday on suspicion of child molestation, authorities said.
Deshawn Travian Mitchell, 21, of Adelanto, was taken into custody about 11:30 a.m. at the Sheriff’s Adelanto Station, San Bernardino County booking jail records show. He was booked on suspicion of committing a lewd act with a child under 14 years old.
He worked as a substitute security guard at Columbia Middle School, officials said.

The arrest stemmed from an investigation by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Specialized Investigations Division , Crimes Against Children Detail and the Sheriff’s Victor Valley Station , according to the agency.
Sheriff’s officials did not say whether the victim was a student at the school.
Bail for Mitchell was set at $250,000 pending an initial court appearance, scheduled Monday in the Victorville branch of San Bernardino County Superior Court.
“Investigators and the Adelanto Elementary School District worked cooperatively to ensure a thorough investigation into this matter was completed,” the sheriff’s department said in a written statement.
No further details were released.
