President Donald Trump nominated Memphis Light, Gas & Water commissioner Mitch Graves to the Tennessee Valley Authority’s board of directors on July 1.

Graves currently serves on MLGW’s board of commissioners and as the CEO of West Cancer Center & Research Institute. He’s up for a term expiring May 18, 2029.

The Tennessee Valley Authority is a federally owned utility company and one of the largest power suppliers in the United States. The appointment must be confirmed by the U.S. Senate.

U.S. Sens. Marsha Blackburn and Bill Hagerty released a joint statement on the nominations, urging the Senate to “swiftly confirm” the nominees.
