Multiple fights broke out at Summerfest Saturday July 5 near the Generac stage where Tee Grizzley was headlining.
Two fights were caught on video and uploaded to Facebook. The first being earlier in the evening in front of the Summerfest store, showing multiple fights ensuing at the same time.
A large crowd stood around the first fights and Summerfest security guards intervened when fighting started.
The second fight, later in the evening on the festival’s final night, showed more than five individuals punching and pushing each other while people stood in a circle around the fight. Security guards did not intervene immediately.
Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. said in a statement that they’re aware of isolated altercations on July 5.
“Summerfest security, with support from Milwaukee Police Department officers, quickly brought these under control. Summerfest does not tolerate any type of behavior that could affect patrons, artists, staff, and partners,” Summerfest said in a statement. “Fighting, harassment, or any disruptive actions are strictly prohibited and will result in immediate removal from the festival grounds.”
Summerfest said, with the help of MPD, they monitor the grounds and review and update safety protocols on an ongoing basis.
This is the second consecutive weekend the music festival organizers said they were aware of fights on the grounds.
