Adam Mihely, 33, of Jefferson, died after a Mahoning County crash between 8:30 and 9 p.m. Thursday, according to a release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
According to a statement from OHP, a trooper attempted to stop a 2007 Yamaha motorcycle near milepost 48 on Route 11 in Liberty Township in Trumbull County.
The motorcycle was being driven by Mihely, who failed to stop and “intentionally fled the trooper,” according to the OHP statement.
A pursuit ensued.
“Shortly thereafter, the motorcyclist exited State Route 11 at Stephens Street and Salt Springs Road,” according to the statement.
The trooper tried to find the motorcycle and came upon a crash involving it and a 2024 Ford Mustang, according to the statement.
The Mustang was being driven southbound on Salt Springs Road by a 32-year-old Youngstown resident, who was attempting to turn left onto Division Street.
Mihely drove left of center, attempting to pass the Mustang when contact was made, the release said.
Mihely was transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, where he died, the release said. The driver of the Mustang was not injured.
The OHP was assisted by the Mahoning County Coroner’s Office and the Youngstown police, fire and street departments, the release said.
The incident remains under investigation.
