A teenage girl accused of bloodily stabbing another teen, Aliyah Williams, to death in a rage in a Bronx deli was arraigned Thursday afternoon, charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.
The defendant, 17, appeared in the youth part of Bronx Criminal Court wearing a black hoodie, jeans and handcuffs. Her family packed the gallery behind the defense — and, when the girl was led out of court, blew kisses to her.
Police sources said the clash may have stemmed from an ongoing bullying dispute.
Video of the stabbing death of 16-year-old Aliyah inside the store shows the victim throwing a bottle at the knife-wielding teen who killed her, prosecutors said Thursday.
Officials weren’t clear about how Tuesday’s deadly clash at Deli Grocery in Williamsbridge started. One of the girls followed the other into the store and a dispute unfolded.
Prosecutors said, after the bottle and liquid was thrown at her, the older girl immediately pulled out a knife and began viciously stabbing Aliyah, plunging the knife multiple times into her head and body, leaving a bloody mess in the store and outside on the sidewalk.
“The whole incident was caught on video. It’s crystal clear,” Bronx Assistant District Attorney Burim Namani said at the arraignment.
“The victim initiates contact by throwing liquid and a bottle at the defendant, when the defendant immediately proceeds to pull out a knife and stab the victim multiple times.”
EMS rushed Aliyah to Jacobi Medical Center, where she died of her injuries.
The accused stabber fled after the bloodshed, but was arrested three hours after the afternoon attack.
Aliyah lived just a few blocks away from where she was fatally knifed, cops said.
Defense attorney Yanique Williams chose not to file a bail application at Thursday’s arraignment, saying she would revisit bail at a July 24 retention hearing following her own investigation into the attack.
“I believe, based on my investigation thus far and conversations with the client and the family, there’s more to the story than what the video shows,” she said.
Police are not publicly releasing the suspect’s name because she is a minor. Similarly, the Daily News is not printing her name.
The victim’s mother said by the time she got to the hospital, Aliyah had no pulse and doctors couldn’t bring her back.
Aliyah was in the 11th grade and loved music and dancing, her mother said.
