NEW YORK – Subaru revealed a sporty compact electric vehicle that promises more than 300 miles range on a charge at an event July 17.
The 2026 Subaru Uncharted goes on sale early in 2026.
The small Uncharted SUV is visually and mechanically similar to the upcoming 2026 Toyota CH-R, which also goes on sale next year. Toyota and Subaru share development and production of many of their EVs.
The Uncharted’s styling includes flared fenders, sharply raked windshield and rear window, big wheel openings and SUV-style ground clearance.

Fast charging, standard FWD
The Uncharted will offer all-wheel drive, up to 338 horsepower and 0-60 mph times under five seconds. Its battery will charge from 10%-80% in about 30 minutes.
The base model will be front-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive available. The FWD base model will have a front-axle motor generating 290 hp and more than 300 miles range. AWD Uncharteds will have motors on both axles and up to 290 miles range. The battery holds 74.7 kW, typical for compact EVs.
Subaru will announce prices closer to sales. It will be sold nationwide.

Plenty of standard features
The Uncharted will be Subaru’s third EV, following the Solterra compact SUV, which got significant range and performance upgrades this year, and the Trailseeker midsize, which also goes on sale in 2026.
Subaru expects the Uncharted to compete with EVs like the Hyundai Kona and Kia Niro.

The Uncharted will come with a NACS charging port for Tesla-style DC fast chargers. It will charge at up to 150kW, around 300 volts.
Standard features include a 14-inch touch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual wireless chargers, heated front seats.
Safety features include pre-collision braking; front cross traffic alert; blind spot and lane departure alerts, and adaptive cruise control.
