CHIPPEWA FALLS — A Westboro man accused of riding his motorcycle at a high speed on Highway 29 in Chippewa County, where he reached 153 mph, has now been charged.

RC Hunter Lee Logan, 21, was charged in Chippewa County Court with second-degree recklessly endangering safety, stemming from the May 29 chase. Logan is due in court Aug. 5 before Judge Steve Gibbs.

According to the criminal complaint, the Wisconsin State Patrol was performing aircraft enforcement on May 29 when an officer observed a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed. Several officers were able to locate the motorcycle and stop it, and the driver was identified as Logan.

Police obtained a search warrant to examine video footage on a “Go Pro” action camera on Logan’s helmet. It showed Logan had recorded footage of a high-speed ride on Highway 29 near Stanley last September.

In that case, the trooper “observed Logan traveling at a speed of 96 mph before slowing for a truck with a trailer in the left lane and a vehicle in the right lane near mile marker 101,” the criminal complaint reads. “Logan sped up to 120 mph and then maintained an average speed over 100 mph. Near mile marker 100, Logan split down the center line in between a semi and a black vehicle and accelerated up to 124 mph. Near mile marker 99.5, Logan passed between two white cars at 108 mph.”

The complaint continued: “Logan accelerated to 141 mph and continued at a high rate of speed until he reached 153 mph near mile marker 95.”

Along with the felony charge, Logan was cited for reckless driving — endangering safety, unsafe lane deviation, and speeding on an expressway.

Logan also was charged in Eau Claire County Court with attempting to flee or elude an officer, also from that May 29 incident. He is due back in that court on Sept. 9 before Judge Sarah Harless.
