Was a noose found at new Nissan Stadium construction site? Nashville police investigate

Must read

Nashville police are investigating a report that a rope tied like a noose was found hanging from the ceiling at the new Nissan Stadium construction site on July 17.

It’s unclear whether the rope was meant to symbolize a noose. But representatives of the Nashville Mayor’s Office said all workers were sent home after the rope was found.

“We are aware and specialized investigation detectives are investigating,” Nashville Police Department spokesperson Kristin Mumford said.

The mayor’s office is tracking the incident.

At his weekly roundtable with reporters on July 18, Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell said the city has “spent a lot of energy” on workplace safety, including fostering an environment that prevents “fear- or hate-based” incidents like this one.

“It is very concerning,” O’Connell said. “There is an open investigation — I know the Titans are cooperating with our Metro Nashville police. We’ll see what that investigation turns up.”

Efforts to reach representatives for the Titans and the stadium contractor Tennessee Builders Alliance for comment were not immediately successful.

Construction on the future new home for the Tennessee Titans broke ground in February 2024.

The projected completion is by February 2027 and in time for the 2027 NFL season.
