POTTSVILLE — A 56-year-old city man was jailed in Schuylkill County Prison after police said he sexually abused a minor numerous times over several years.

Pottsville police said they arrested Raymond E. Hall on Wednesday on numerous sexual assault charges related to an investigation into an adolescent victim. The investigation was led by the city police department with help from the district attorney’s office, police said.

Police said the adolescent came forward and provided information about Hall pursuing inappropriate sexual contact over a period of several years.

Pottsville police subsequently contacted Hall, and he confessed to the allegations and volunteered further incriminating information about his interactions with the victim, police said.

Hall told police he had abused the child both at his home in Pottsville and at his auto body shop in Palo Alto.

Hall faces four felony counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and one felony count each of incest, endangering the welfare of a child and corruption of minors. He also faces four misdemeanor counts of indecent assault and one count of indecent exposure.

Hall was arraigned Wednesday by Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker and remanded to Schuylkill County Prison, unable to post $250,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. July 28 before District Judge James K. Reiley in Pottsville.

Police said that anyone with information on this investigation “that might be evidentiary in nature,” or additional victims, should contact Capt. Joseph Welsh directly at 570-622-1234 ext. 1350.
