Father of 20 kids killed near Greyhound station in downtown Atlanta

A man has died after a shooting in downtown Atlanta early Saturday morning.

Police say they are investigating a shooting near the Greyhound station along Forsyth Street.

They say the victim was shot in the face twice and once in the arm.

Investigators say a person of interest was leaving a nearby club when an argument broke out between him and the victim. That person of interest in now in police custody for questioning.

Channel 2’s Ashli Lincoln spoke with witnesses off-camera who stated they heard several gunshots go off early Saturday morning.

Loved ones of D’Anthony Reaves, 45, told Lincoln he was killed by a man getting off a Greyhound bus.

Family says Reaves was hanging out in the area around 1 a.m. when someone tried to rob him and shot him.

“Y’all need to put the guns down. And I’m not saying that because it’s my brother, I’m saying that because we’re losing too many,” Deoineta Hightower said.

Reaves’ family says he leaves behind 20 children.

The investigation has caused disruption for those arriving at the Greyhound station.
