Must read

Jul. 19—George Carmignani George Carmignani (Georgie, Pee-Paw, Big Grampa) was a multi-faceted man. Loved by his family as being our steady rock, he was always there for support, love and guidance. He stood out as a star athlete in high school, college and the Marines. George was honored as athlete of the decade (50s) by Western High School in Silver City. He received both basketball and football scholarships to UNM. George was also a scholar, earning his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from his beloved UNM and ultimately his PhD from Florida State. He graduated from scholar to educator, teaching in public schools and eventually creating driver training curricula for the New Mexico Department of Education. George cherished his Catholic faith and his family even more. He was a regular at Risen Savior’s Sunday mass. Family poker nights at George’s house were always filled with jokes, wine, and laughter. Preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Susan, siblings; Charles and Mona, and survived by children; Craig, Suzanne, and Jon, siblings; Albert, Camille, and Dolores, and life partner of 19 years, Gerrie, we all felt his steadfast love and support. An avid golfer and artist (jewelry making and painting), George also loved dancing, singing, and cheering on his Lobos. His personal interests were as varied as his professional accomplishments. George was 88 at his time of passing. Services will be held at Daniels funeral home on Wyoming July 29th, 2025 at 1:00 pm with a celebration of life after.
