New construction projects are set to pop up on Monday, July 21, as Michiganders return to work from the weekend.
“Across Michigan, we are moving dirt and fixing the damn roads to grow our economy, helping Michiganders go to work, drop their kids off at school and run errands safely,” Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said in a news release.
“By the end of this construction season, we will have fixed, repaired or replaced nearly 24,500 lane miles of roads and 1,900 bridges, supporting thousands of good-paying, local jobs without raising taxes by a dime,” she added.

Upcoming MDOT construction projects:
The following construction projects are set to start this week, according to MDOT, with travel advisories in effect:
Starting Monday, July 21, state officials will start to repair the M-26 bridge over Eagle River in Keweenaw County. The work includes removing asphalt surface and placing new waterproofing, a new asphalt surface and associated items. The project will run through Aug. 8.
Traffic delays are expected from Power Plant Road in Escanaba via eastbound US-2, northbound M-117, eastbound M-28, southbound M-129 and eastbound Swede Road to northbound Quarry Road in Cedarville on July 22 due to contractors moving an oversized load from Escanaba to Cedarville, officials say.
MDOT will start resurfacing 4 miles of M-30 from M-46 to South County Line Road in Saginaw July 21. The project costing $906,000 will run until Aug. 22.
On Tuesday, July 22, state contractors are set to replace a culvert on US-45 north of Rockland in Ontonagon County, MDOT says. Traffic will be detoured onto M-26 and M-38 until Friday.
