Anyone who has enjoyed a delicious dish of street cart chicken and rice knows it’s a distinct kind of food happiness. Chicken over rice usually involves marinated chicken enjoyed ove yellow rice, often with a salad and an assortment of sauces. It’s known for being creamy, spicy, savory, and very satisfying.
INDAY’s new Chicken Over Rice takes this tradition to an exciting new level, as this dish takes on delicious Indian spices and flavors. It is made with housemade rice, charred Tandoor-style chicken, a salad comprised of cucumber and tomato, and topped with drizzles of their signature creamy white and spicy red sauces—all made in-house.
This new dish is available starting tomorrow, Monday, July 21, at all 8 across New York City,. And throughout August, the chain will be donating a portion of this dish’s profits to the , an amazing organization that supports the rights of street vendors and the incredibly important role they play in New York City’s culinary culture.
I was lucky enough to get a preview of this dish a few weeks before it launched and really loved it. Like, a lot. Chicken over rice with the tomato and cucumber salads with creamy white and spicy red sauce is obviously a reinterpretation and sendup of a street food classic, but with delicious South Asian tastes and flavors – and at only $12, it’s an amazing deal on something that was super delicious and filling (and I had leftovers!).
As an added bit of excitement for those of us in the area who love a hearty chicken and rice dish to start off a busy work week (which I imagine is a lot of us reading!) , INDAY will be giving away up to 150 free Chicken Over Rice bowls per location on July 21, first come first serve, while supplies last.
