A 45-year-old Jefferson Twp. woman faces charges after troopers said she almost crashed into about a dozen people on the Casey Highway on Friday night while she was intoxicated.
Troopers responded to the Robert P. Casey Highway around 11:12 p.m. for the report of a wrong-way driver — identified as Brooke Michele Craven, according to a state police news release.
Officers from Jessup, Throop and Olyphant assisted state police in stopping Craven’s vehicle, troopers said.
Witnesses informed troopers that Craven nearly crashed into the motorists who were traveling east on the highway — including a mother with two children as passengers who was run off the road by Craven and sustained damage to her vehicle, police said.
Troopers determined Craven was under the influence of alcohol and had marijuana, prescription medication and drug paraphernalia in her possession, per the release.
Craven acted disorderly while being arrested and unsuccessfully attempted to solicit a state trooper for sex, police said.
After consulting with the Lackawanna County district attorney’s office, police charged Craven with reckless endangerment, driving under the influence, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and numerous traffic offenses.
Bail and preliminary hearing information was unavailable Sunday.
