DELRAY BEACH — A 36-year-old man was arrested Thursday afternoon and charged with robbing two banks in the city, police said.
Delray Beach Police say Kevin Robertson, who is a transient, robbed the Truist bank on 140 E. Linton Blvd. after 4 p.m. July 16 and made off with more than $9,000.
On Thursday, July 17, at about 5 p.m., Robertson robbed the Chase bank branch at 4880 W. Atlantic Blvd., and took more than $10,000, police spokesman Ted White said Sunday. News reports said Robertson pulled off the robberies by giving tellers in each case threatening notes.
Police set up a perimeter after the Chase robbery and found Robertson around an hour later by a bus stop on Military Trail south of Atlantic Avenue, White said. He was taken into custody and taken to the Palm Beach County Jail.
Robertson was charged with two counts of robbery and one count of resisting arrest without violence.
No one was injured during the robberies, White said.
“Thanks to our officers and everyone involved, this suspect was quickly apprehended,” Interim Police Chief Darrell Hunter said in a department Facebook post. “I’m proud of the team effort that keeps our community safe.”
Hunter also thanked the FBI, the Boynton Beach Police Department K-9 unit, and Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputies and helicopter unit for their assistance in apprehending Robertson.
