The Bureau of Labor Statistics released its total private average hourly earnings by state, along with the average weekly earnings and the average number of hours Americans work per week, for June 2025.

The Ocean State is in the upper half of states in terms of average earnings coming in at No. 14, just barely beaten by Virginia. However, the average pay in Rhode Island is less than in neighboring states.

What is the average hourly pay in Rhode Island?

On average, Ocean Staters earn $36.38 per hour, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. This figure is not seasonally adjusted.

This means that per week, Rhode Island workers earn $1,229.64 on average.

The minimum wage in Rhode Island is currently $15 an hour, though that will rise in the next two years to $17.
